A typical example of an F H Ayres rocking horse that has been over painted at sometime in its life. Gaudy black and white gloss paint do nothing to enhance the appearance of this horse.
Before
In our workshop, we would make good any loose body and leg joints and remove any non standard paint work . Once the horse is at this stage, we would retouch or repaint the horse, depending on how much of the original paint work survives. The horse would then be harnessed and put back on the stand. Below is the result of this process, giving back the look of how the horse would have been originally.
